To celebrate the fantastic creativity being featured in the Southbank Sky Arts Awards 2011, we at Sky Creative Digital have designed a website allowing you to create your own unique piece of Generative Art simply through navigating the site.
Why Generative?
The thinking behind the Generative Art for was to create a dynamic vibrant backdrop for the users to engage with through the process of interacting with the site itself. The Gen Art evolves over the course the user’s journey and is directly influenced by the interactions they make within the site (page views/mouse clicks). This affects the current art style and the range of brushes available at any one time.

The page fold ‘chat’ represents a conversation that seemingly has to take place at least once per project, when it comes to designing web pages. The concept itself came from the world of newspapers where broadsheets were often sat on the shelves folded in half, due to their size. As a result, editors knew that if there was content that you wanted your readers to see, or to attract them to your paper, it had to sit at the top end of the front page – or ‘above the fold’. Congratulations to the 2010 PromaxBDA UK Awards Nomination for Going Postal in the Best Cross-Media Campaign category.

We’re setting an in-house staff competition for the chance to have their very own limited edition print made at the very prestigious Matt Wingfield studio in sunny Brighton!
Screen-printing gives a design fantastically rich colour and a quality of image that just isn’t possible with most other techniques – which partly explains why it’s become so hugely popular for designer prints in the past few years.
It also is a great chance to get back to basics with paint and getting our hands dirty like the good old days as an Art Student.
We’ve asked staff to produce a poster which evokes the words – ‘Believe in Better’ – Sky’s brand ethos.
Watch this space for more info and entry rules.
